How to choose your first surfboard
Short answer. If you weigh 150–180 lb and you're learning,
ride an 8'0" soft-top with at least 70 L of volume. Move to a 7'0" foamie
when you can paddle into and stand on green waves. Skip the 6'2" shortboard
until you can do that consistently.
Why
- Volume = paddle power = waves caught.
- Length = stability.
- Soft-top = safer for everyone in the lineup.
